Note: The weekend of April 5th and 6th brought widespread and at times large protests under the banner of “Hands Off!” These were mostly directed at Donald Trump and Elon Musk, expressing opposition to reducing or eliminating a large variety of government expenditures. Though I could find no demographic data regarding the protesters, a review of the many photos available on the internet suggests a very significant portion we’re socioeconomically advantaged white people. In fact, to find a non-white person is almost a Where’s Waldo exercise: there doesn't even seem to be many token non-white people, as is evident in the photos that accompany this article.
Around 20 years ago, as my spouse and I were laying the foundation for our rural children's charity project in Honduras (which opened in May, 2007), we did a few R&R overnights on Utila Island. As we were strolling along the water’s edge we came across a rustic touristy beach bar that had a sign stating something like, “Funded by a grant from USAID.” I wondered aloud why in the world USAID would be involved with a tourist bar on a Caribbean island, but put the memory aside. It recently emerged, however, with the Trump administration shutting down USAID because of spending tax dollars on questionable, and even pernicious, things.

This article was written by someone who put their money and their time where it counts. This white, upper middle class, man has spent his time, money and efforts making life changing opportunities for severely disenfranchised people. He never carried a sign. He never involved himself in radical protests.
Putting a sign on your lawn or carrying a sign at a protest is valueless at best. Put your money where your mouth is. Do something important, something that will change someone's life for the better. OR, do nothing (about the same as carrying a cardboard sign).

Hi Reid, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your article. I guess the Dems are so intent on establishing Democratic power, they are willing to sell their souls to the devil. I think they are fighting a loosing battle. Trump ended up with more supporters than thought possible. If the Dems truly believe that keeping illegals in this country to vote in the upcoming elections will win them over, then I believe they will be sadly mistaken because I see that Trump’s policies will continue to squash their efforts. That is to say, if the courts get out of the way, which I am hoping will happen. One great thing about President Trump is he doesn’t back away from a fight! ...and he knows what he’s doing!
Worth once told me that Obama had elected so many justices throughout the country that it was and would continue to cause immense problems. Which is apparently why there is such a backlash on Trump’s deportation efforts. However, I am very hopeful he will win in those upcoming battles.
So sad to see these idiots want destruction to continue with murders, rapes, sex trafficking, drugs, etc. just to win over the country which would inevitably create a socialist/communist country under China’s regime. What is wrong with these people???? What do they think they have they to gain? Do they understand what they’re doing, or I should say, trying to do? Their efforts are certainly not in line with the majority, thank God! There is plenty of hope, but these are certainly dangerous time to say the least!
I loved your comments Alfred! ...and really, Reid, you need to publish all your articles someday! Just think of all the money you would be making which would allow you to do more constructive work throughout. On top of it all, your research would certainly benefit future generations as well which I am afraid they most certainly will need and more than likely appreciate.. Since I was a young adult, I have found life taking an entirely strange course. One I never expected, To have insights on how we managed to get to this point would certainly be invaluable to future generations. You’ve managed to cover a lot and to put it in a condensed form would certainly prove to be a great resource!
If only the left would use their money for more constructive uses than tossing it to the wind; and perish the thought if they were ever to gain power, expecting the tax payers to fund and support their destructive policies. I was so glad to know that USAID is now a thing of the past! Thank God Donald J. Trump is in office,! For the short time he has been our nation’s leader, he certainly has done more than anyone else could have possibly hoped for. He has created a superior cabinet and they all seem to work so well together! Elon Musk and his team have certainly uncovered a lot!
There is always hope for a better future; but unfortunately, there will always be evil to contend with. Even our forefathers had more than an abundance of evil to deal with. All part of life, but the good news is that good always outweighs evil in the end. “In God we Trust” is still on our money and for a good reason!
