The New Religion of Lee Griffin

In considering the modern Democrat party, the party of young Lee Griffin, we no longer see a political entity but what has essentially become a religion, one that lacks a Supreme Being but otherwise incorporates many of the worst practices of organized religion. Program proposals have been replaced by a creed, and policy positions by a catechism; the list of sins is large and increasing, just as the criteria for being called a sinner has expanded.  Only recently we have been informed that using the phrase “sexual preference,” which used to be a gentle term, is now an abomination: homosexuality has been declared immutable and “preference” suggests a choice, which contradicts their theology. Curiously, the scientific and genetic trait of gender has been decreed fluid, hence in the new religion one must accept the contradiction to be viewed as righteous.

One of the most enlightened ideas in human history has been that the value of a person shouldn’t depend on race, ethnicity, economic or class status, or any of those other groupings that have been used over millennia to oppress and kill, but that all lives matter. Now, however, the party/theocracy of Lee Griffin has informed us that stating “all lives matter” is blasphemous because it’s inclusionary, and those that say it are to be reviled. In one case several months ago in Indiana, a young woman was summarily executed for the sin of declaring “all lives matter” in the presence of a true believer in the doxology of “black lives matter.” The paradox is we are also told that one of the paths to Democrat holiness is to embrace and demand “inclusion,” to the point that behavior and language that fail to do so should be criminalized. It’s hard to keep it all straight!

Pretty much all religions, ancient and modern, have a creation story, and the new Democrat religion is no exception. However, for them there was no generic “In the beginning,” but rather a specific year- 1619- the year in which slaves from West Africa were first transported to what became the US 150 years later. Unlike the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), creation for the Democrats was not good, but it has been forever tainted by slavery and oppression, and 400 years later their theology demands every aspect of American history, culture, tradition, and thought be viewed a vile because of it. The fact that slavery was global, that North America accounted for a small fraction of the slave trade, and there was also a vigorous East African slave trade with Islamic countries as the recipients, is of no matter: the new Democrat religion does not allow for objective history, facts, or context.

The doctrine of most modern religions generally promotes peace, tolerance, and forgiveness. Certainly over the centuries unscrupulous people have willfully misconstrued or intentionally perverted the message for reasons of selfish personal gain, too often leading to suffering of many. The new religion of Lee Griffin is an exception- it is unabashedly intolerant and unforgiving and prescribes perpetual castigation for infidels. A small handful of their Chosen are allowed to cleansed of their sins, primarily by deleting Tweets inconsistent with their gospels of “social justice” or Black Lives Matter, but most infidels cannot be saved from perdition.

It can be understood that any given dogma will be embraced by some and rejected by others. What makes a religion or sect pernicious is not necessarily a particular set of beliefs but how it reacts to non-believers. Often the language used to characterize non-believers hints at the ferocity and zealousness of the religion: blasphemer, sinner, infidel, heretic, heathen, and witch come to mind. The new religion of the Democrats has a similar lexicon, and to be described as such is, in their minds, one of the worst things imaginable: racist, Nazi, fascist, transgenderphobe, misogynist, and the like.

Their threshold of being accused of their modern form of witchery is quite low. If you fail to support the destruction of monuments to Abraham Lincoln or Woodrow Wilson, you are a racist. If you don’t believe a eight-year-old boy who mentions it would be fun to be a girl should be allowed to choose chemical and surgical mutilation, you are a transgenderphobe. If you support the nomination of Amy Barrett to the Supreme Court, you are a misogynist (the irony of her being a woman not withstanding). If you don’t share the Democrat’s hatred of Trump with all your heart and soul, you are a fascist. Ultimately the criteria for sin is straightforward: if you fail to agree with the theology of the Democrats, Black Lives Matter, etc, to any extent, you are a heretic, and it’s unlikely, no matter how much you prostrate yourself, that you will be redeemed. Their clergy and doctrine are stern and unforgiving, and their penalties and retribution harsh, as we are seeing in shattered glass and fire in the cities, and in more subtle ways, such as destroying small businesses for not adhering to their woke faith and in the changing street names- even those long dead are not immune from their pious wrath.

On his web site candidate Lee Griffin acknowledges his sin and hope for personal salvation: “I recognize the privilege I have as a straight, white man, and I want to use that to help others.” He continued: “For me, our American ideals of freedom and opportunity come as a birthright, but for many Americans who are of different sexual orientations, races, religions, genders than me, those ideals don’t come so easily,” then goes on to introduce us to his spouse- “…my wife is a Brown, Muslim, immigrant woman.”  In his world people can be classified in three ways- brown, black, or white, the latter harboring the stigma of original sin, and people are to be judged based upon these three shades. The political and social idea and ideal, as expressed by ML King, that a person should be judged not on the color of their skin but on the content of their character, is a best quaint and at worst itself filled with hate and racism. No person of any compassion or reason would want to live in this bleak, tri-chromatic world, nor force it upon others.

Not surprisingly, Lee Griffin’s web site addresses one of the primary sacraments of the new religion- abortion. Of course, he never actually uses term abortion, but cloaks that ugly word in the soothing language “reproductive health,” and a “woman’s right to choose and have control over their own body.” There was a time when the Democrats talked about abortion being “safe, legal, and rare.” Though this was simply political disingenuousness, it did impart a trace of humanity to their target, the yet to be born child.  Their zealousness has evolved, however, and now they at times overtly express glee at the destruction of the child, including up to and even after delivery of the baby. And, of course, abortion should be fully subsidized by the government. I do not have an encyclopedic knowledge of Islam, but I believe their doctrine could be described as pro-life similar, to that of the Catholics- you can be pro-abortion, you can be a Catholic, but you can’t be both. Hence, Lee Griffin’s “brown” wife can be pro-abortion along with her husband but, if so, she is disallowed from being a true Muslim.

Religion can be different things to different people, and one of these includes a sense of self- righteousness: “I am one of the chosen and better than everyone who doesn’t share my beliefs.” A common icon of the new Democrat religion are yard signs displayed on the lawns of an affluent suburban houses that declare, “Black Lives Matter.” In other words, “Look at me, I’m one of the faithful and I’m wonderful!”
