Pride Month 2025

In theory pride is associated with some type of accomplishment, perhaps involving a bit of effort or even sacrifice, but the activist “pride” establishment has so corrupted the term that it has become essentially the opposite: not achievement but selfish, and often sexual, hedonism. Can someone truly be proud of their personal sexual proclivities? Back in the world where tolerance was valued, a fair-minded person might encounter someone into BDSM and say, “Good for you, I guess, but that’s your thing and not mine, and perhaps you might keep it private.” Today, the only acceptable response in the eyes of “pride” would be something like, “Your leather thong bikini really complements your hairy chest and arm-band spikes, and I admire you for parading down the street like this in front of kids.”

To be a little less sardonic, the reality of “pride” is people who are uncomfortable with themselves and need others to affirm who they are, and do so by demanding attention and acceptance. It truly must be a lonely place to feel compelled to march down streets chanting slogans and waving flags and banners, saying “LOOK AT ME! You must love and cherish me and, if you don’t, I deplore you.”

One of the letters- T- in the 2SLGBTQQIPAA amalgam of nonsense, stands for “transgender.” At the moment, there is a bit of a societal brouhaha engulfing the pride cultural- industrial complex in that a majority are thinking, “maybe guys masquerading as girls and beating them in athletic competitions isn’t really a bedrock human rights issue we’ve been ordered to believe.” In 2023 a person with the male genetic karyotype (XY) "transgender" obliterated the Canadian power-lifting records, beating the runner up (XX female karyotype) by almost 200lbs; undoubtedly a moment of enormous pride. I wonder how much pride I would feel if I beat a 10-year-old girl at arm wrestling? Curiously, soon after the aforementioned record breaker achieved such an impressive feat, another XY athlete showed up, identified as a woman, and smashed the former’s bench-press record (273lbs) by a whooping 95lbs. Cries of unfairness were heard...and perhaps there was a bit of a publicity stunt involved.

To some extent, the encroachment of males in women’s sports (true social justice will only be realized when all female sports records are held by people with XY chromosomes!) is a side issue. What is more significant, and ominous, is that the “pride” activists who define woman merely based on declaration of gender, in reality define womanhood in the most superficial and even demeaning manner. Think of who might be called transgender luminaries (“Rachael” Levine, Dylan Mulvaney, Sam Brinton, for example) and observe they are typically guys declaring themselves to be girls, and have the commonality of embracing female fashions, hair styles, makeup, etc. In other words, to them being a woman is mostly a matter of comporting with their warped view of women. At the extreme are the drag queens, who put on display the most garish, and insulting, perceptions of what it is to be a woman.

Thank goodness there are signs that this cultural tyranny is finally running out of steam: increasingly people have grown weary of the coercion, intimidation, and bullying. Ideally, some day we’ll get back to a place where tolerance was a virtue, people are simply okay with who they and have no need to demand others treat them as extra special, and all parties interact with mutual respect. The discontinuation of “pride” month would be a welcome step in this direction.

A closing mention of a minor news article. A faithful Christian was employed by a global corporation (Eaton) when gradually the company began to promote “pride-” required seminar attendance, rainbow flags and clothing, use of preferred pronouns (the usual silliness). In a little act of defiance he wore t-shirts with Biblical verses mentioning pride and rainbows. He was accused of making anonymous people “uncomfortable” and fired. He sued under anti-discrimination laws and won some type of (undisclosed) settlement. You have to wonder about the decision making process at the corporate level (We definitely need to start flying rainbow flags!), and how a sense of discomfort, undefined, felt by unnamed people can be a basis for firing someone. This is similar to universities canceling conservative speakers for safety reasons because opponents say they are going to riot. Imagine if a secular corporation decided to promote Islam (or Christianity, for that matter) and required employees sit through readings from the Quran or New Testament. That would be inappropriate, to say the least, and there is no difference between that and promoting “pride.”
